Private Instruction - Online
This highly personalized service provides students an opportunity to work on areas that need improving and allows Richard to target those areas with specific techniques and strategies.
How it works:
- Students e-mail or mail a 30-minute tape or DVD of their drumming with any questions or specific problems that they have.
- Richard responds with a customized half-hour video lesson which answers their questions and shows them how to maximize their strengths and overcome their weaknesses.
- The video is posted on YouTube, via a private link that only the student can view, where it will be available for 30 days for the student to reference.
The benefits:
Students can work with a world-class drummer without having to wait for him to come to their geographic region. Learning from someone with outstanding technique is essential so good habits are instilled and bad habits do not have an opportunity to be formed.
By reviewing the video you send, Richard can pinpoint your specific problems and needs and create an action plan to solve them. Richard's video response can be played repeatedly which allows students to learn at their own pace to create positive habits and muscle memory.

Private Instruction - In Person
Richard is available for individual instruction for piano and all types of percussion for any age throughout Southern California.
Group Instruction
The more the merrier! Whether you'd like Richard to visit your group once a week or would just like an intensive weekend of piano, drumming, or pipe-band instruction, Richard can teach everyone from beginners to advanced drummers and piano players in group sessions.
Master Classes
Richard can present a master class customized to the needs of your students. Some of his most popular master classes are: The Art of Scottish Drumming, Introduction to Frame Drumming, Introduction to Latin Percussion, and Introduction to Music Theory. Richard is proud to have presented master classes at The Juilliard School's Summer Percussion Institute and Interlochen Arts Academy.
Presentations
Richard is also available to make presentations at conferences and conventions. Most recently, Richard presented at the Alliance of North American Pipe Band Associations annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
